We have arranged for an exclusive private workshop for our small group to be held indoors as well as on the outdoor grounds of the historic Pennhurst Asylum. We will have access to several of the buildings interiors as well as much of the exteriors to explore and photograph.
Pennhurst was an institution for the mentally and physically disabled individuals of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Constructed and opened in 1908. Pennhurst was one of the largest institutions of its kind in Pennsylvania. It was devoted strictly to the care, treatment and education of the disabled. After years of controversy, it was closed on December 9, 1987.
This workshop will allow you to capture wide views as well as details of the amazing textures and colors available due to years of decay and abandonment. Photo ops abound in every corner, turn and floor of this historic site. Not only is color photography a great option but black and white and infrared photography is highly encouraged. We will also have an opportunity to even do some light painting in a section of one of the structures we will have access to.
This workshop is not only for intermediate to advanced photographers looking to photograph the historic buildings and grounds, but also for beginners which are looking for special attention with one-on-one instructions with camera settings, compelling compositions and image processing in order to learn and capture great images of their own.
Please note that we are limiting the number of attendees in order to have a manageable group in which participants will have plenty of space and time to capture the images without having to jockey for position and in order to be able to provide adequate instruction to participants that may require it.
