I had an opportunity yesterday to visit some nearby familiar places in search of some wintering ducks to photograph. My first stop was the Mill Creek Marsh, which is located in Secaucus, NJ. It was pretty much frozen all around, tons of snow in the trails and did not see a single duck. I decided to take a quick ride to the Secaucus Duck Pond which is a 5 minute ride. Much to my surprise I found the pond with plenty of ducks . It was about 85% frozen. The ducks were hanging around right at the entrance where the water was not frozen. There were several species which are commonly seen at this time of the year at the Mill Creek Marsh, but I had never seen them in the pond. While I was photographning I did not even realize how cold it really was. It did take me a little while to thaw out after I was done though. Nevertheless it was fun photographing them.
