Special thanks to good friend and awesome photographer Betty Wiley for the heads up and for a wonderful time shooting together in her neck of the woods.

It was great not only to photograph this Pilated Woodpecker nest but also to witness their behavior and the beauty that we find in nature. Definitely worth the 5 hour drive for me!

There was a total of three chicks, two males and one female. Both parents were kept busy feeding the hungry chicks pretty often. It seemed to me that they were pretty much ready to fledge and I was told they did so the morning after I was there.
