New York Public Library Main Branch photography workshop

Join us for this unique and rare opportunity to photograph the exterior and interior of the nation’s largest public library system and National Historic Landmark which is the “Stephen A. Schwarzman Building” commonly referred to as the New York City Public Library. We have been granted a very special permit to photograph the flagship NYPL building located on 5th Avenue in New York City with our tripods and during non business hour.
The exterior’s impressive Beaux-Arts architecture style beauty includes Vermont marble columns, stairways and brick all around. The two stone lions that adorn each side of the stairway at the main entrance are made of Tennessee marble.

The Library’s famous Rose Main Reading Room is a majestic room with very high ceilings. The room is lined with thousands of books on open shelves along the floor level and along the balcony. It is lit by massive windows and grand chandeliers, furnished with sturdy wood tables and and brass lamps. (first image above)
We will also cover the rest of the architecture and richness which makes up the NYPL.
We will photograph the exterior of the building from 7:00 am to 8:00 am when the sweet light is still available during this time of the year. We will then photograph the interior between 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
This workshop is recommended for intermediate to advanced photographers. It will be run in our usual organized fashion. We will be breaking up the group into smaller groups in order to maximize the shooting capabilities of each participant during our workshop.
