Where the Wildlife Roosts Above the Turnpike
As evening settles over Secaucus, a remarkable contrast comes into view—great egrets roosting in the Secaucus, NJ wetlands just below the sweeping lights of the New York City skyline. The small white dots visible in the lower portion of the frame are egrets gathered among the vegetation, preparing to roost for the night. The Secaucus Egret Roost regularly reach several hundred to nearly 1,000 birds during evening fly-ins.
