Although I was pleased with my original capture, I wanted to recreate the painterly look I had visualized while photographing the cowgirl riding her horse. So after converting the Raw capture, I applied several textures from French Kiss Textures.  I changed the blend modes and opacities for each texture layer and used layer masks to paint out the effect in the areas I did not want to apply it to. While painting on some of the layer mask to either conceal or reveal  I varied the opacity of the brush as well, in order to achieve an in between in certain areas.

To give the image more depth, I used a background from Fantasy Backgrounds in the foreground while masking out the rest of the background image.
